Drupal 6.12 Installation Tutorial:
- Download the current version from the Drupal Official Website here.
- Uncompress the tar.gz file using WinZip or WinRAR or 7-zip to a temporary directory in your local computer.
- You can create a folder called "drupal" in the "/var/www/html/" directory. Then you can upload the Drupal files to the web server using a FTP client. For FTP upload instructions, please click here.
For this example, Drupal will be uploaded to /var/www/html/drupal/ directory and the website address will be http://www.yourdomain.com/drupal/index.php
- Grant write permissions on configuration file - Drupal comes with a default.settings.php file in the sites/default directory. Before running the installer you need to make a copy of this file, in sites/default, naming it "settings.php." (NOTE: do not rename the default file, copy it instead. Drupal needs the default.settings.php file to exist.) You should have both a default.settings.php and settings.php file in your sites/default directory. Drupal's installer will modify the settings.php file as needed with the details you provide during the installation process.
- Begin Installing - Run the install script on your server (by going to http://www.yourdomain.com/drupal/ with your web browser) and follow the on screen instructions.
- Database Setup - Fill in the necessary information in the following fields (For this step, we are assuming that you have already created and set up your MySQL database. If you have not done this yet, please click here to see the MySQL creation tutorial.)
Database type: MySQL
DB Hostname: 127.0.0.1
DB Username : your Doteasy.com member ID
DB Password : your MySQL database password
DB name : domain_com_-_db
Table prefix: g2_
- Configure site - create the admin account and provide basic web site settings.
- Congratulations! The script is now installed.

## FTP upload
After creating the new file you must insure that it is writable. You can assign write permissions to it:
chmod 755 sites/default/settings.php
Drupal should set the file permissions back to read-only once the installation is done. You should make sure this is the case and manually change it yourself if it didn't happen.

Configure site
*Note
If your site is not configured for clean url's you can troubleshoot this later. The Update notifications box will check for later versions of Drupal and contributed modules. If you are without or have restricted Internet connectivity you may want to uncheck this for now and test and enable it later.
On success, you will see the Drupal installation complete screen. If there are any error message, review and correct them now.
The install script will attempt to create a files storage directory in the default location at sites/default/files (the location of the files directory may be changed after Drupal is installed). In some cases, you may need to create the directory and modify its permissions manually.
chmod 775 sites/default/files
** http://www.yourdomain.com/admin is your Doteasy Site Admin panel address.
