Joomla! has recently released its latest update: Joomla! 3.3.0. This update includes various features such as improved password hashing and microdata. Other important updates include:

WordPress 3.9 Released

WordPress has recently released its latest update: WordPress 3.9 version (name: “Smith”, in honour of Jimmy Smith). According to WordPress.org, the new version of WordPress features:

  • A smoother media editing experience: The updated visual editor has improved speed, accessbility, and mobile support. Users can paste into the visual editor from your word processor with no messy styling. Cropping and rotating tools are also enhanced. users can even drag and drop the images directly from desktops to the editor.
  • Gallery previews: Users can now view images in grid mode right in the editor, just like in the published post.
  • Audio and video playlists enhancement
  • Stunning new theme browser
  • Live widget and header previews: Users can add, edit, and rearrange the site’s widges right in the theme customizer. No more suprises

WordPress 3.8.3: Maintenance Release

WordPress has recently released its latest update: WordPress 3.8.3 version. This is a maintenance release for all previous versions. According to WordPress.org, the latest version fixes the following

  • the “Quick Draft” tool on the dashboard screen was broken in the 3.8.2 version. Now the bug is fixed

Since this is only a maintenance update, your WordPress may have been updated automatically (websites that support automatic background updates will be updated within 12 hours). WordPress 3.8.2: Security Release

WordPress has recently released its latest update: WordPress 3.8.2 version. This is a security release for all previous versions. According to WordPress.org, the latest version fixes the following

  • a weakness that could let an attacker force their way into your site by forging authentication cookies
  • prevent a user with the Contributor role from improperly publishing posts

In addition, this security release also contains 3 other security hardening changes:

  • passes along additional information when processing pingbacks to help hosts identify potentially abusive requests
  • fix a low-impact SQL injection by trusted users
  • prevent possible cross-domain scripting through Plupload, the third-party library WordPress uses for uploading files
