phpBB 3.0.5 Installation Tutorial:

Download the current zip file from the phpBB Official Website here.

Uncompress the zip file using WinZip or WinRAR to a temporary directory in your local computer.

You can create a folder called "forum" in the "/var/www/html/" directory. Then you can upload
phpBB files to the web server using a FTP client. For FTP upload instructions, please click here.

For this example, phpBB will be uploaded to /var/www/html/forum/ directory and the website address will be http://www.yourdomain.com/forum

Before you begin installing phpBB, please ensure that you have created your MySQL database on your web server via your Site Administration Panel. Click here to learn more on how to create the database.

Run the install script on your server (by going to http://www.yourdomain.com/forum with your web browser) and follow the instructions.

Fill in the necessary information in the following fields :

Basic Configuration
Default Board Language : English
Database Type : MySQL 4.X/5.X
Choose your installation method : Install

Database Configuration
Database Server Hostname: 127.0.0.1
Your Database Name : yourdomain_com_-_db
Database User Name : member ID
Database Password : your MySQL password
Prefix for tables in database phpbb_

Admin Configuration
Admin Email Address : admin@yourdomain.com
Domain Name : www.yourdomain.com
Server Port : 3306
Script Path : /forum/
Administrator Username : admin
Administrator Password : admin password
Administrator Password (Confirm) : admin password

Click Finish Install

Using your FTP software, delete the folders /contrib and /install located on your server within the /var/www/html/forum directory to avoid unauthorized persons from re-configuring your forum. The folders and contents within are no longer needed.

Installation of phpBB is completed. Please refresh your browser to see phpBB run correctly. To administer the board you must re-authenticate yourself.
